Anthony Hodgkinson’s photography explores more than just the representation of an image, using analogue photographic techniques. Hodgkinson seeks to identify the emotion of the landscape by allowing nature to take partial control of the process within his practice. To Hodgkinson, a photograph is about more than just the visual documentation of the landscape; it is a record of the experience within the landscape, the film is engraved, scarred and agitated, processed by elements in the landscape he chooses, chance creates a presence. Hodgkinson reminds us that we are not here to succeed or pass nature, but to share a unified romance with the landscape.
In 2015 Anthony was awarded the Robin Gibson emerging artist award and in 2017 received an honourable mention at the small works art prize. Work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections throughout Australia.
